Alan : - D A usual and unfortunate situation (that likely happened to you)

A usual and unfortunate situation (that likely happened to you)

Child: Why do we have food?

Adult: So we can eat it.

Child: Why?

Adult:  Because we need food to live.

Child: Why?

Adult:  Because food has energy and we need energy.

Child:  Why?

Adult: (Getting weary)  Because without it we'll die.

Child: Why?

Adult:  I don't know.  Stop asking why.

---

Sad situation.... all these questions have answers, and all our people learn to stop asking why... and miss the most important truths of life, often.  And, reaching adulthood, have no answers for the next generation's deep 'why's"...

Why do we need food?  Because everything that is the material universe is really a dynamic interplay of energies... and we are made out of energy, and all energy is made out of the source.  And through living, breathing, thinking, feeling, moving, and loving, we give off energy.  That's what we're here for... but balance requires we take in energy also... and all biological energy has it's root in sunlight, the sun... and through the sun, the source itself.  Because plants "eat" the sunlight... in a process called photosynthesis, and when any creature eats a plant, it is really seeking that form of source energy the plant has created from sunlight. Thus, we eat biological matter because it's infused with source energy, in a form we can take in, so we can continue to output... in our dynamic interplay of energy.

When was the last time you asked a bunch of whys?  An extremely useful exercise... can you imagine growing up in a world where it is not par for the course for a four year old to stump an adult with simple questions?

That is why children are so wonderful …. they make us dig deep for answers to their endless questions.  They force us to clarify what we believe and why.  And ultimately we come to the point of Mystery, where there are no answers, and it is at that point we can choose to allow and accept and be in awe of what is, or continue to split the atom searching for the end of whyness, which doesn't exist.

An end to whyness… interesting!  I once channeled the answer to this question I asked: “Why did the universe exist?”  That's where I hit the end to my whyness.  The answer was something like: “this question is in misunderstanding.  There can not be a start before a beginning.”

Channeled indeed.  I truly have no idea where that came from.  I never used the word “whyness” before in my life!

Julie, That's the best news I've heard all day!    (yes, it is rather early… thanks for setting a high bar for today!  Hopefully other news will want to rise to the occasion.)

Nicole, yah.

The universe then is self-creation.  Or is an act of self-creation.  One day, there was nothing… but nothing BEYOND nothing, for as soon as we imagine nothing, we create something.   Know what I mean?  “Nothing” is still a concept… it is a concept as soon as a human mind, aka “something” imagines it.   so…what?  The whole thing makes my head hurt.  I've hit the edge of whyness in other ways, but that was surely an interesting one.  : )

made me laugh! Yes!

My brother asked 'why' a lot. I never saw the point much ( other than the 'why me' periods of my life)… However, is a fantastic process I did called Satori ( based on the Enlightenment Intensives) where one sits in dyads for hours and hours and days and days, asking things of oneself (but out loud) like 'who am I?' 'what is life?' 'what is another?'. It's total hell… and then… something happens (usually)… much like how you describe so beautifully, Julie.
