Who has been a beacon for you recently?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for April 10, 2008:
As far as I am concerned, a "who" should not be my beacon. A "who" assumes another soul in another body, and the beacon, the teacher, that which is followed, is the universe and the realm of origional experience itself.
I did learn a lot from many people on my path, following none. I especially learned from Laozi, who told us that the Dao can never be captured in words. If the dao is inexplicable, who should ever be a beacon to another?
We can shine lights for each-other, it's true: but the light we shine for each-other comes not from us... perhaps it's a mistake for a man or woman to think they're a lighthouse! I think at best we're the space the light moves through.

Endorsement completely. It is the attachment and dependence on others that leads to false 'enlightenment'… note the failures with religious icons. Seek your own path, shine your own light. It is yours… SC
yes, my brother! very well said and done. love and light
now, i wasn't of the opinion that the lighthouse was the actual “source” of light, but rather, the vessel thru which light is shown. what actually creates the light is not the stone shell, nor is it the lantern…
Hello, friend hailing from Maryland… Yes, it’s true. Light is the source of light. Consider the lighthouse bit an analogy or shorthand… useful to make my point.
Besides, light itself being the source of light, while perhaps an important concept, is also one that’s a bit difficult to grasp, and perhaps would require it’s own post! Or, at least, it’s own comment…
Still, it makes the light-worker’s job that much more clear, knowing this to be true…
This little light o’ mine, see, I just let it shine…
you are a little light :)
big love, brother Alan!
Well said Alan ,I like your humility, and so very true.
